Storm Damage Repair in Atlantic Beach

After a storm passes over your home, we come out for a free post-storm inspection, photograph what the wind and rain did, and tell you plainly what needs fixing now and what can wait. Planning a claim? We'll deal with your insurance adjuster directly for you.

Storm repair that starts with a clear record

Storm damage is not always visible from the driveway. A shingle can lift, break its seal and settle back down looking fine, then let water in during the next wind-driven rain. Flashing can bend where the roof meets a wall, and a ridge cap can loosen without ever falling off. We look for the damage you can't see as well as the damage you can.

Hurricane season runs from June through November here, and small damage left alone through a few months of wind-driven rain tends to become wet decking and a stained ceiling. Finding and recording it early gives you time to decide, budget and schedule the work instead of reacting to a leak.

Some storm damage is a simple roof repair. Some is widespread enough that roof replacement makes more sense. We'll tell you which one you're looking at and show you why.

What our storm damage repair covers

  1. 01

    A free post-storm inspection

We walk the roof and check shingles, tile or metal panels, flashing, vents, ridge caps and gutters. We also look in the attic for fresh water stains and damp decking, since that is often where hidden damage shows first.

  2. 02

    Photos and written findings

Every damaged spot gets photographed and noted with what caused it. The photos are yours to keep, whether you file a claim or not.

  3. 03

Temporary protection when a roof is open

If a section is torn open, we secure it with a tarp so water stays out while the permanent repair is scheduled.

  4. 04

    Working with your insurance adjuster

On a storm damage claim, we deal with the adjuster ourselves so you aren't stuck in the middle. That can mean meeting them on site, pointing to each damaged area and handing over our measurements and photos. Your insurer still makes the coverage call.

  5. 05

    Permanent repairs, permitted when required

We replace lifted or torn shingles, reseal and reflash, and swap out soaked or broken decking. When the size of the repair calls for a permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection.

  6. 06

    Gutters and a clean yard

Bent gutters and downspouts get straightened or replaced, and we finish by clearing debris and running a magnet over the yard and driveway for nails.

Clues a storm left behind on your roof

  • Torn tabs on the lawn

A few strips of shingle scattered across the grass tell you the wind ripped tabs loose up top. Creased shingles still hanging on deserve a look too, since a fold breaks the seal underneath.

  • New stains on a ceiling or wall

A brown ring that wasn't there before the storm usually means water found a path through flashing or decking.

  • Granules at the downspouts

A heavy pile of gritty granules after a storm points to shingles that were scoured by wind or debris.

  • Bent flashing, vents or gutters

Metal that is dented or pulled away can let water behind it long after the sky clears.

  • Fallen limbs near the house

If a tree dropped branches beside your home, assume one may have struck the roof on the way down. Impact can split shingles or tile and tear the underlayment, even when nothing is left sitting up there.

How a storm repair job runs

  1. 1

Your call and a set time

You call, and we schedule your free post-storm inspection. After a widespread storm we book visits in order and give you an honest time frame.

  2. 2

    Inspection and a plain talk

Once we've checked the roof and the attic, we go through the pictures together at your kitchen table or on the porch. We separate the items that can't wait from the ones you can budget for over the coming months.

  3. 3

    Your claim decision

If the damage looks larger than your deductible, we explain what we'd document for a claim. You decide whether to file, and if you do, we meet with your adjuster.

  4. 4

    Repair day

We cover plants and walkways, set tarps for debris and work section by section so your home is never left open overnight.

  5. 5

    Final walk and cleanup

We walk the finished work with you, take photos of the completed repair for your records and sweep the yard before we leave.

What moves the cost of storm repairs

We can't price storm repair until we've seen the roof, because two homes on the same street can come through one storm very differently. Your free, no-obligation estimate lists each repair on its own line, so you can see what a claim may cover and what it may not. Financing is available if the repair lands before you had planned for it.

How much of the roof was hit
A handful of lifted shingles is a short job. Damage spread across several slopes takes more material and more days.
What's under the shingles
Decking that stayed wet after the storm may be soft or delaminated. Its true condition only shows once the torn shingles are lifted away, and you'll see any bad boards for yourself before we swap them out.
Roofing material and matching
Shingle, tile and metal each repair differently. Older or discontinued products can take extra effort to match closely.
How easy the roof is to work on
A low roof you can walk comfortably goes faster. A tall or sharply pitched one means harnesses, roof jacks and slower movement, and that time shows up in the estimate.
Permits and code requirements
Larger repairs may need a permit, and the repaired area has to meet current Florida Building Code for underlayment and fastening, which can add work.

Storm damage repair questions

Should I call my insurance company first or get the roof inspected?

Either order works. Many homeowners like to have the inspection first so they know whether the damage is likely worth a claim given their deductible. Our photos and notes are yours either way, and the coverage decision always rests with your insurer.

Do you deal with my insurance adjuster for me?

Yes, on storm damage claims we talk with the adjuster ourselves. Usually that means meeting them at your home, showing what we found and sharing measurements and photos. We don't decide coverage, and we'll be honest with you about what we think a claim may or may not include.

What happens if my roof came through the storm fine?

Good news is still worth having, and you'll get the photos to back it up at no charge. If we notice normal aging that has nothing to do with the storm, we'll point it out so you can set money aside and plan for it on your own timeline.

Can the repair wait until hurricane season is over?

Sometimes. A few creased shingles that are still sealed may hold for a while, but an opening or loose flashing should be fixed soon. We'll tell you which category your roof falls into so you can schedule around your budget rather than the next storm.

Will the repaired patch stand out from the rest of my roof?

We get it as close as today's products allow. Some older colors and profiles have been discontinued, so before any work begins we bring samples of the nearest options and let you pick the one that blends best.

Do you work outside Atlantic Beach?

Yes. We also handle storm damage repair in Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Palm Valley, Sawgrass and Nocatee. Our Service Areas page has more on where we work.
